Terms

The basic terms for using this privacy-first PDF toolkit.

These terms cover what you can expect from Paperlane and what Paperlane expects from you. They are written in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate, but they are still the terms that apply to your use of the toolkit.

Using the tools#

Use the tools only with files and information you are authorized to process. You remain responsible for reviewing the output before relying on it, sharing it, or submitting it anywhere.

Automated or abusive use that degrades the service for other users (for example scripted bulk requests against network-assisted features) is not permitted.

Provided as-is#

The toolkit is provided as-is and as-available, without a warranty that every format, encoding, or password-protected document will be supported. Local processing depends on your device's memory, CPU, and browser, so very large files may fail or run slowly on constrained hardware.

Where a tool cannot complete a task honestly (see Security for a concrete example with password-protected PDFs), it is expected to say so rather than produce a misleading result.

Your content stays yours#

We do not claim ownership over documents you process. Content processed by local tools never reaches our servers, so there is nothing for us to claim a license over in the first place.

Changes to these terms#

We may update these terms as the toolkit evolves. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
