Repair cannot recreate content that has been physically removed. If a page's bytes were truncated, overwritten, or destroyed before upload, no automated tool can rebuild that page — the report will list it as lost best-effort rather than pretend it survived. Best-effort output is exactly that: structurally valid, but individual pages may be empty, unreadable, or missing, and form data or embedded text may not survive. Always open the result and verify the pages you need before relying on it. Password-protected (encrypted) PDFs cannot be repaired here — the contents are scrambled until the password is removed with the separate unlock tool. If this app detects an encryption dictionary blocking recovery it reports password-required instead of guessing.

How to use this tool

  1. Add the damaged PDF using the file picker or drag-and-drop. this app runs entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
  2. Choose whether recovery may spend extra effort rebuilding incomplete structure. Keep “Best-effort reconstruction” on for the best chance at salvaging the original pages.
  3. Run repair. this app first attempts a tolerant parse of the document, then re-scans the raw bytes for intact objects if that fails.
  4. Review the recovery report — which pages and objects were recovered versus lost — then download the repaired file.
