EXR files: how to open and convert them
OpenEXR — high-dynamic-range film VFX frames.
What this site can do with EXR
- Open and read: no — and we say so rather than pretend
- Write and convert to: no honest browser encoder exists
- Compression: lossless — no quality is lost when saving
- Transparency: supported
Half/float HDR pipelines do not survive the 8-bit browser canvas; we do not pretend to convert them.
