WEBP files: how to open and convert them
Google's modern web format: markedly smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, with optional transparency and animation.
What this site can do with WEBP
- Open and read: yes
- Write and convert to: yes
- Compression: lossy — a quality slider applies when encoding
- Transparency: supported
- Animation: supported
Decoded animation plays only in the browser's own image pipeline; our encode path writes the first frame.
