Y4M files: how to open and convert them
YUV4MPEG2 — uncompressed raw video frames with a text header. The currency of video-filter pipelines (avisynth, vapoursynth).
What this site can do with Y4M
- Open and read: yes
- Write and convert to: no honest browser encoder exists
- Compression: lossless — no quality is lost when saving
- Animation: supported
Files are enormous by construction; converting away from Y4M is the only realistic direction.
