Paperlane for Mac

Record your Mac screen with system audio

Short answer. Paperlane for Mac records the whole display or a chosen region using Apple's ScreenCaptureKit, with system audio and, optionally, the microphone. No audio driver is needed. Recordings are saved as HEVC or H.264 video on your Mac and are never uploaded, and you can trim, compress or turn them into a GIF afterwards.

Three ways to do it

  • In the app

Open Record Screen, choose the display or a region and the audio sources, and press Record; nothing is saved until you press Stop and Save.

  • From Finder

Recording starts from the app or the launcher (Control-Option-P), not from Finder.

  • With Shortcuts

Open Record Screen in Paperlane for Mac to choose the capture area and audio sources.

Steps

  1. Open Record Screen and choose the display or a region.
  2. Turn system audio and the microphone on or off.
  3. Press Record, then Stop and Save when you are done.
  4. Trim, compress or turn the clip into a GIF with the other tools.

There is no browser version of this task, which is why it is a Mac feature.
