How to Rotate a PDF Permanently (Not Just in the Viewer)

Most PDF viewers let you rotate your on-screen view temporarily — close and reopen the file, and it snaps back to its original orientation. To rotate a PDF permanently, use the Rotate PDF tool: it rewrites the page's actual rotation data in the file itself, so the new orientation is saved into the document and stays correct in every viewer, not just the one you're using right now.

Why a PDF looks rotated in the first place

This usually happens when a page was scanned sideways, or a photo taken in portrait was inserted into a landscape-oriented document. The page content itself is fine — only its stored orientation is wrong.

Step-by-step

1. Open the Rotate PDF tool and upload your file.

2. Select the page or pages that need rotating (not always every page in the document).

3. Choose the rotation direction and angle.

4. Download the corrected file — the new orientation is now part of the document, and will display correctly for anyone who opens it, in any PDF reader.
