How to use this tool
- Upload a PDF, then open the page you want to work on from the page rail.
- Pick a tool from the annotation bar — text box, freehand, highlighter, rectangle/ellipse/line, or image — and drag on the canvas to place it.
- Move or resize a placed item with the selection tool; nudge it with the arrow keys and refine its opacity, color, and layer order.
- To add a signature, drop an existing signature image onto the canvas as you would any image annotation (draw/type/upload capture lives in the dedicated Sign tool).
- Choose whether to flatten annotations into the page permanently, then download the edited PDF.
About this tool
Edit PDF text and add a signature free, entirely in your browser — no Adobe Acrobat required. Change wording, add annotations, and sign, all processed locally. Nothing is uploaded; your edited, signed PDF downloads straight from your device when you're done.
Privacy & limitations
This app adds and edits supported content — text boxes, freehand, highlights, shapes, images, and signatures. It cannot rewrite the existing embedded text and layout of an uploaded PDF as if it were a word processor; pre-existing text stays as-is unless covered over. When flattening is off, some annotation kinds (such as placed images and signatures) are still baked into the page because PDF has no standard annotation subtype for a placed raster image.

Frequently asked questions
Can I edit a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?
Yes, for adding content. You can place text boxes, highlights, shapes, freehand marks, images and signatures on any page, free, without an Acrobat subscription and without uploading the document. It does not rewrite the text already embedded in the PDF the way a word processor would.
How do I add text to an existing PDF?
Open the page, choose the text box tool, click where the text should go and type. You can then move or resize it, nudge it with the arrow keys and change its colour and opacity. Use it for filling in blanks, labels or short notes on a document.
Can I change or delete the original text in a PDF?
Not directly. Existing text stays as it is unless you cover it, for example with a box and new text on top. To remove sensitive text permanently, use the Redact PDF tool instead, because covering text does not delete it from the file.
What does flattening do when I download?
With flattening on, your additions are baked into the page and can no longer be moved or edited. With it off, most annotations stay as separate PDF annotations, but placed images and signatures are still baked in because PDF has no standard annotation for them.
