How to use this tool

  1. Add your files — drag them onto the page or choose them. They stay on your device.
  2. Set the Frame rate — 12 fps is the sweet spot; GIF stores no motion between frames, so higher rates mostly cost size.
  3. Pick the Width (480 px suits chat windows) and optionally trim the range first.
  4. Tune the palette under Appearance: 256 colours with ordered dithering is the default look.
  5. Press “Create GIFs” and download the results, individually or as one ZIP.

About this tool

Turn a clip into a looping animated GIF with a tuned colour palette. Free and unlimited, and nothing is uploaded: it all runs in your own browser. Everything is analysed and produced on your own device — nothing is uploaded anywhere, and you can verify it: the tools keep working even offline.

Privacy & limitations

Files over roughly 2 GB, or long 4K videos, can exhaust the browser's memory — everything runs on your machine, so your machine is the limit. GIF is a 256-colour format with no real transparency gradient: gradients band and fine text fuzzles — for the same clip at a fraction of the size, use video-to-mp4-style output instead.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my GIF bigger than the video?

Because GIF is a thirty-year-old format with no motion compression: it stores frames rather than the differences between them. A ten-second GIF is routinely larger than the MP4 it came from, and looks worse.

How do I make the GIF smaller?

Halve the width, which cuts the size by roughly three quarters. Then lower the frame rate. Trimming the length helps least of the three.

Why does my GIF look grainy?

GIF holds 256 colours. A clip with gradients, skies or skin tones has to be approximated with dithering, which is the speckling you can see. Flat graphics come through cleanly.

Does the GIF keep the sound?

No. GIF has no audio track at all, which is part of why it is small enough to be worth using.
