How to use this tool
- Add your files — drag them onto the page or choose them. They stay on your device.
- Add any file — image, video, audio — and the inspector lists what the file itself declares: dimensions, duration, codecs, sample rate, metadata.
- Download the full readout as JSON for tickets and bug reports.
- Press “Process files” and download the results, individually or as one ZIP.
About this tool
Find out what a file actually is, not what its extension claims. Reads the signature, shows hidden EXIF and GPS data, and explains why the file is large. Everything is analysed and produced on your own device — nothing is uploaded anywhere, and you can verify it: the tools keep working even offline.
Privacy & limitations
The inspector reads what the file declares; a corrupted or lying header yields partial information — absence of a field means the file did not say, never that a property is guaranteed absent.

Frequently asked questions
How can a file have the wrong extension?
Because the extension is only part of the name. Renaming photo.webp to photo.jpg changes nothing inside the file, so a strict uploader reads the bytes, sees WEBP, and rejects it.
Does this show GPS location from a photo?
Yes, when the photo still has it. Phones write the coordinates into EXIF, and most photos shared straight from a camera roll still carry them.
Is my file uploaded to check it?
No. The bytes are read inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent anywhere.
