About this tool

Convert between SRT and VTT, and nudge the timing when captions drift. Free and unlimited, and nothing is uploaded: it all runs in your own browser. Everything is analysed and produced on your own device — nothing is uploaded anywhere, and you can verify it: the tools keep working even offline.

Privacy & limitations

Styling (fonts, colours, positioning from ASS files) is not carried into SRT or VTT — only the text and the timings survive the conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my subtitles out of sync?

Almost always because they were timed against a different release of the same video: a different cut, or one with a longer set of opening titles. The whole file is offset by a constant, which is exactly what shifting corrects.

How do I work out the offset?

Note when the first line should appear and when it actually does. The difference is the shift, and it applies to the whole file.

What if the drift gets worse as it goes?

Then the frame rates differ, and a constant shift will not fix it. That needs a tool that rescales the timings rather than offsets them.

Does converting SRT to VTT change the text?

No. The two formats differ in a header line and how they punctuate the timestamps. The lines themselves come across unchanged.
