About this tool
MP4, WEBM, MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, WMV, OGV, 3GP, MPG, TS and GIF. Free and unlimited, and nothing is uploaded: it all runs in your own browser. Everything is analysed and produced on your own device — nothing is uploaded anywhere, and you can verify it: the tools keep working even offline.
Privacy & limitations
Files over roughly 2 GB, or long 4K videos, can exhaust the browser's memory — everything runs on your machine, so your machine is the limit. The first conversion loads the WebAssembly video engine — about 31 MB, one time, then cached by the browser.

Frequently asked questions
Which video format plays on everything?
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. It has hardware decoding on effectively every phone, television and computer made in the last fifteen years, which no other format can claim.
How long can the video be?
There is no limit imposed here. The ceiling is your own machine's memory, and a long file will take real time because the work happens on your device rather than a server farm.
Why is converting video slower than converting images?
A one-minute clip is around 1,800 separate pictures, each of which has to be decoded and re-encoded, and the encoder also has to work out what changed between them. Images are one frame.
Will I lose quality?
Re-encoding always costs a little, because the encoder is working from an already compressed source. Choosing a higher quality preset keeps it invisible at the cost of a larger file.
