How to use this tool
- Upload a PDF that contains tables as real text — this pipeline reads embedded text, so image-only scans need OCR first.
- Pick the pages to scan: all pages, or a specific page range to limit detection to the section you care about.
- Choose how the result is organized: one worksheet per detected table, or all tables combined into a single sheet.
- Download the .xlsx and spot-check the cells — detection is heuristic, so verify row alignment before relying on the export.
About this tool
Convert PDF to Excel free, entirely in your browser — extract tables from a PDF into an editable .xlsx spreadsheet with rows and columns preserved. Nothing is uploaded to a server; extraction runs locally, and the finished spreadsheet downloads straight from your device in moments.
Privacy & limitations
Table detection is heuristic and works best on whitespace-aligned or ruled tables whose cells line up at regular positions. Merged cells, nested tables, split columns, and rotated text may come out incomplete or with values shifted into the wrong cell. Scanned or image-only PDFs contain no extractable text, so no tables can be detected until the pages are OCRed first. A table that continues across a page boundary is treated as two separate tables; check the page markers and join the rows manually in combined mode.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF table to Excel?
Add the PDF, choose which pages to scan, and pick one sheet per table or everything combined on a single sheet. The tool detects tables and exports a real .xlsx workbook you can open in Excel or Sheets. It all runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
Why do my numbers appear as text in Excel?
By default cell text is copied exactly as it appears, so numbers stay text and nothing is changed behind your back. Switch the number option to auto to turn recognised numbers into real numeric cells, or to comma-decimal if the PDF uses formats like 1.234,56. Check totals after converting.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?
Not directly. A scanned or image-only PDF has no text for the tool to read, so no tables are found. Run the PDF through OCR first to add a text layer, then convert the searchable result. Expect to review the numbers, since OCR can misread digits.
How accurate is the table detection?
It is heuristic. Tables with ruled lines or neatly aligned columns work best. Merged cells, nested tables, split columns and rotated text can come out incomplete or with values in the wrong cell. A table that runs across a page break is treated as two tables, so join those rows yourself.
