Frequently asked questions

How is EMI calculated?

The tool uses the reducing-balance formula EMI = P × r / (1 − (1 + r)^−n), where r is the annual rate divided by 12 and by 100, and n is the number of months. For 5,00,000 at 8.5% over 60 months, the EMI is about 10,258 and total interest about 1,15,496.

Does a longer tenure make a loan cheaper?

It lowers the monthly EMI but raises the total interest. The same 5,00,000 at 8.5% costs about 10,258 a month for 60 months, with about 1,15,496 interest, or about 7,918 a month for 84 months, with about 1,65,132 interest. Compare both before choosing.

Does it include processing fees, insurance or rate changes?

No. Fees, moratoriums, EMI holidays, insurance and floating-rate resets are not modelled. It is the standard reducing-balance EMI only, so your lender's schedule can differ slightly because of fees, rounding or part-month interest. Use it for planning, not as a loan offer.

Can I use it for home, car and personal loans?

Yes, for any loan repaid in equal monthly instalments on a reducing balance. Enter the loan amount, the annual interest rate and the tenure in months. Interest-only periods and balloon payments are not supported, so those loans need your lender's own schedule.
